Cissonius the good, warder of the borderlands,
who guides the trader and the traveler, who keeps
them safe from harm, the villain and the highwayman
must face your wrath, O keen-eyed god who sees all evil
on the road, O scourge of brigandry. Cissonius,
the word is your currency, the coin your talisman;
your hand is firm upon the rein, your footsteps swift
and certain–as men and women journey far from home,
you walk with them, you keep the beasts of night at bay.
God of the staff and helm, fair and bright and fine,
god of the goblet, the sweet red wine, I call to you
with words of praise, I honor your name and your works.
