I offer praise to Esus, god of fearful might,
healer of ills, granter of good, holder of lives.
Esus of the bull and crane, Esus of the axe,
well honored by the Treveri, well known throughout
the lands of Gaul, your image carved in stone,
your name preserved a thousand years and more.
Giver of blessings dark and bright, in days long gone
your altars stood, red-stained and worn in fields of green;
in days long gone your tales were told, your name called out
in prayer and in thanks; your stories are lost to us,
O Esus, yet your name remains and is enough.
Esus of the willow-tree, I honor you.
