Gnatus of lore and learning, fair of face,
noble of bearing, bright-eyed with wit and reason,
Gnatus whose shrine stood in the heart of Gaul,
in a land carved by riverflow, a land of farms
and pretty villages, where once the wise made offering
to you, I honor your name, I honor your work.
All of sense and judgment is yours, O great god
who sees what is and what may be. Gnatus,
granter of the might of knowledge, the moment
of revelation, the flow of understanding,
the spark of inspiration, the surge of spirit
that makes thought into substance, I call to you.
