fair-tressed battle-maid, great lady of the lowlands,
mistress of the snow-fed Rhine. Hariasa,
goddess of the borderland, steadfast watchwoman,
keen-eyed one, ever-wary, ever-faithful,
unflinching, unyielding champion of tribe and kin,
once was your might well known, your name well honored,
your tales told by firelight to wide-eyed youth and maid,
once were carven stones raised to you by those who knew
your blessings. Hariasa who guards the gate
against all foes, who favors the bold and the righteous,
I offer you my words of reverence and praise.
