I call to Medb, bright-shining queen of ancient days,
heart of the land, holder of its right and its rule.
Your hand it was that made great kings, that led great men
to fortune and to honor, to an undying fame;
your hand it is that leads us to know our worth,
to hold our heads high in weather fair or foul.
Gracious Medb, goddess most fair and most noble,
your glory unmatched, your words honey-sweet,
your presence at once a balm and a flame,
intoxicating one who shows us the way
to delight, in whom we may lose or find ourselves
in turn, I praise your name, I honor your might.
