I call to Nuada, first king of the people
of deep-hearted Danu, Nuada of the silver hand,
bearer of the bright-lit sword which no foe
can evade. Chieftain wise and brave, leader of men
in battle and in time of peace, master of the hunt,
fisher of fish, catcher of the beasts of the wood,
worker of magics, holder of knowledge deep
and wide, Nuada, you know of victory and of loss,
you know of power and of its lack; you know
of the obligation of sovereighty;
you know of the honor in struggle, the gift
of persistence. Nuada, I call to you.
