I call to Ogma, bearer of the speaking sword!
Persuasion is your gift, O god of discourse,
maker of the telling staves that bear your name.
In times of old were bards and poets held
in highest regard; their strength of wit was feared
by all, their wisdom and their learning sought
by chieftains and by kings. The rhymer and the wordsmith
would seek your aid in ancient days, O Ogma,
that their words be made sweet, that their tongues
be made sharp, that their thoughts be made swift.
The singer and the scribe, the scholar and the sage,
all know your might, all hope for your favor.
