Ritona of the river-ford, who knows the flow
of time and might, lady of the Treveri
who held the wooded lands of Gaul, whose name
and honor yet endure, whose children’s children
yet flourish. Protector of household and village,
your temples stood in times now gone, built with skill
and care by those who knew your goodness and your gifts.
Joyful one who loves the merriment of life–
the laughter of children at play, the festival
and feast, the song and dance and telling of tales–
all are yours, O Ritona of the waterway.
Goddess, I speak your name in reverence and praise.
