of those who walked the vine-covered vale, Smertrios
of blood and blade, fire-bearer, strong of spirit,
strong of arm, O god who wears the mark of battle,
god who wears the mark of might, slayer of serpents,
companion of Ancamna whose gift it is
to sweeten the grape, O Smertrios who stands
with the gods of bull and crane, of the antler
and the horn, whose fame is fixed within the land,
whose name was carved in stone, spoken by the faithful
in shadowed groves, by murmuring springs, I honor you.
O great provider, O granter of good, I call to you!
