I call to Souconna of the winding river,
lady of the gentle Saone, life of the green land.
Fair-footed maid, bright-crowned goddess, deep of heart,
mistress of sweet water, flowing swift and pure,
yours is the morning dew, yours the soft spring rains,
yours the nectar of the bloom, the spirit of the tree.
So long ago your name was laid into the earth,
carved into rock and clay by patient winds and waters;
so long ago your might was known, your goodness trusted,
your blessings granted freely to those who prayed to you
in need and desperation, in gratitude and praise.
Gracious and merciful goddess, I honor you.
