of men, I call to you. Gracious Vercana,
who knew the Treveri who held the rolling hills,
who knew the artisans of Rome who built the baths
of Bertrich, who hears the prayers of the sick
and the desolate, who grants voice to the poet
and will to the wronged. Vercana of the scalding spring,
granter of insight, granter of vision,
granter of fire and fury, singer of the war-song,
shield of frail humanity, I honor you.
